After playing this CD for the zillionth time, I only had questions.
Why is it assumed that only children read comic books? Why is it that comic
books are assumed to be immature? Why is it that other media are also
assumed to be for children only? Why aren't there storytelling records for
adults? Why are you assuming I mean porno storytelling records?
Why does Kathy Acker use appropriation as her raison d'etre? Is she
obsessed with sex or something? Why rip off "Treasure Island" now, when all
those swashbuckle epics from Hollywood suck so badly? Do her inspirations
come from literature or from Billboard magazine? Both, maybe?
Isn't it silly that this CD comes with a parental warning sticker
cautioning against the lyrics and the artwork -- the artwork being the
S.Clay Wilson tableau on the cover?
How come the Mekon's first record was a dis of The Clash's 'revolutionary'
stance? How could they have recorded for seventeen years and sucked so
little? What led them to do this record? Is it they who suck, or did they
do the best they could with Acker's whining fuck-lyrics?
Are pirates going to be the next erotic fantasy-of-choice, since these days
vampires are losing their coolness-factor? Has Kathy Acker ever written a
script for a porn flick? Would this be a stretch? Am I hostile to lesbian
erotica and porn, or am I just put off by how mechanical sex is on this
disc?
Is there anything that redeems this CD? Would it be the Mekon's deft
handling of a half-dozen musical styles? Would it be the quality of their
music under Acker's verbal loads? Is it being able to giggle while counting
the number of times the word 'cunt' is used?
Dunno.
